Women who make a difference

To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, VWFS Fleet is highlighting the success of three female employees, who were recently awarded at the leasing company’s annual sales conference.

Every year, International Women’s Day is a much-needed reminder of the critical importance of gender equality. The day shines a light on the challenges women still face across society and in the workplace, while also prompting a widespread celebration of the incredible achievements of so many successful women.

Thankfully, in recent years, we have seen much progress in combating bias, discrimination and unfair treatment of women in the workplace. We have also seen the emergence of powerful female voices, who demand change through the removal of stereotypes, rightful recognition and inclusion in equal measures.

VWFS Fleet remains committed to supporting these collective efforts, such that all genders are equally recognised for their talent, character and contribution.

Our business is full of outstanding, talented women. Whether dealing with customers, leading internal teams, innovating new products or devising strategies to ensure we actively live our values, women are at the forefront of our efforts to embrace diversity and drive inclusion in all areas of the business.

Recognition and celebration

VWFS Fleet’s annual sales conference is one of the many important ways we recognise and celebrate our team’s achievements, skills and dedication.

Among many stories to be proud of, this year’s event highlighted the fantastic achievements made by three VWFS female colleagues – Amanda Harris, Taylor Bates and Tara Kitchener.

Amanda Harris, Corporate Account Manager

Amanda was recognised with a Customer Success Award, as she reignited a relationship with a past client to support their sustainability goals.

Speaking about the recognition, she says:

“VWFS Fleet wanted to look at ways we could engage past clients to see how we could better support them across today’s evolving fleet landscape. I really bought into this, and contacted the MD of an old client.”

“After just one conversation, it was clear they were seeking an affordable, practical and long-term strategy to adopt PHEVs across their fleet, to support their transition to a low carbon fleet. Understanding this, I put forward some potential solutions – and I’m now really excited to work with the client to put these solutions in action.”

Thanks to Amanda’s diligence and industry expertise, the customer now has access to the support they needed, through a tailored, low emission fleet solution on a compelling offer.

Her motto: “Success is a journey, not a destination” will stand Amanda in good stead as she continues to deploy her skills and experience in the future – and we can’t wait to continue to celebrate all she achieves.

Taylor Bates, Internal Account Manager

When it came to the Outstanding Achievement Award, Taylor Bates had a story that was hard to ignore. She has created strong relationships with customers, and continues to work resourcefully to build trust and confidence in VWFS Fleet’s service offering.

Speaking about her work, Taylor says:

“ I look back with immense pride on the contribution I’ve made. I’ve been empowered and trusted by VWFS Fleet in so many ways to ensure we can make a real difference to our customers, and that they have total confidence in the service we offer.”

“Just as importantly for me, I’ve also managed to focus on my own personal development, which has included securing the prestigious Association of Fleet Professionals IMI Accreditation for Strategic Fleet Vehicle Management in the last year.”

Evidenced through highly positive feedback from so many of her clients, and other internal stakeholders, Taylor continues to make a distinctive and fully recognised contribution to VWFS Fleet.

Tara Kitchener, SME Account Manager

Tara Kitchener was named Salesperson of the Year, which is testament to her consistency and initiative-taking approach, which has supported so many of VWFS Fleet’s customers.

Tara’s individual contribution continues to make a deep impression on her colleagues. Many who collaborate with her consider Tara to be a role model, who, through her competency, personality and drive, continues to inspire. And this is something Tara is particularly proud of.

She says: “It’s very humbling to hear that my colleagues see me as role model. It’s especially important that we create a supportive and inspirational workplace environment for all – and especially for females in an industry that has been traditionally male-dominated.

“I hope the success I’ve had acts as motivation to other women, so they believe in themselves, seize the workplace opportunities they see and proudly demonstrate the talents they possess.”

Three women, three roles, three stories of achievement and success – and this is only scratching the surface of the incredible array of female talent we have at VWFS Fleet.
